BJP workers hold strong protest against LPG crisis

POONCH, Nov 7: The BJP activists, supported by many residents of  Poonch city today held protest demonstration and took out protest march on the roads and streets against the LPG crisis created in the district.
A large number of people including women assembled at the Pritam Park at around 11 am today under the collective leadership of district president of BJP, Sunil Gupta,  senior vice president Pardeep Sharma and general secretary Satish  Sasan. Some people were also carrying empty cylinders. They raised slogans against the UPA Government and the Centre,  Congress party and the NC-led Coalition Government in the State.
District president, Mr Gupta while addressing the gathering alleged that people of the area were facing lot of hardships due to non-availability of LPG cylinders.  He said even the non-subsidized gas cylinders were not available to the consumers. On the plea of verification, the people are being put to harassment and the Administration was acting as mute spectator. It is hardly bothered about the plight of the people while those owning gas agencies seems to be above the law and rules. There is no control of CAPD Department or District Administration on them.
Several other local leaders also addressed the gathering and said that Congress party had declared to provide 9 LPG cylinders in Congress ruled State but in J&K only six cylinders are being provided. Even the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah raised hands, claiming that he was not able to take the burden of  Rs 225 crore annually. They demanded that J&K be  provided concession by the Centre.
Then the people and BJP activists took out protest march on the city roads and lanes. They were shouting slogans against Government. After passing through various markets, they later reached the DC office and after staging protest for some time, submitted a memorandum to him. They sought immediate intervention of  Chief Minister and CAPD Minister Qamar Ali Akhoon into the matter. More than one thousand people participated  in today’s protest march against LPG crisis.
