JAMMU, Dec 7: Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president, Mayawati has alleged that BJP has come to power with the support of big business houses and industrialists and is working for the interests of capitalists, ignoring the interests of poor and down-trodden people of the country.
Addressing an election rally at Maulana Azad Stadium here this afternoon, Ms Mayawati described the BJP as the party of capitalists and alleged that the saffron party-led Central Government was eroding the institution of reservation meant for the poor and down-trodden people to benefit those who provided funds to the party during Lok Sabha elections.
“BJP is a party of the capitalists, which is being run by the big business houses. Since the party formed the Government at the Center, they are gradually eroding the institutions of reservation, meant for the poor and downtrodden sections of the society,” Mayawati said.
Former BSP Chief Minister alleged that after coming to power about seven months ago, the BJP Government has introduced Bills in Parliament that only benefit the capitalists and big business houses. The BJP came to power with the help and support of capitalists and now they are repaying them. The BJP after framing Government, only introduced the Bills and brought amendments in Parliament that benefit the capitalists, she maintained.
The BSP leader further alleged that BJP led Government is giving work of various departments to the private players. Since there is no reservation in the private sector for the Schedule Castes, Schedule Tribes and other Backward Classes, they won’t get any employment or benefit of those works,” she added.
“The bad economic policies have only helped the business houses that funded them during their elections, their economic policies have added to the burden of the common people,” she said.
Launching a scathing attack on BJP for betraying the trust of people, Mayawati said the party has failed to implement even a single promise that it made to the people of the country before the Lok Sabha elections.
“They promised to bring back the black money in 100 days and deposit 15 lakh in every citizen’s account but all the promises have remained unfulfilled,” she added.
“They raised issue of inflation loudly and claimed to bring it down but the Narendra Modi-led Government after coming to power has failed to bring down the prices of the essential commodities and other items as well,” she maintained.
Former UP Chief Minister said that BSP is the party of poor and down-trodden members of the society. This party never takes any support from the capitalists and contests elections with the little donation from own workers. It will work only to watch interests of poor and down trodden including SCs/STs/OBC or other poor from the upper classes. Therefore, it has not pressure from the capitalists. Only BSP can watch the interests of common man in the country and not BJP or Congress. She also triggered guns on the NC and PDP for not providing due share to the SCs and OBCs in the State and depriving them of the benefits of Mandal Commission.
Referring to increasing level of corruption and mis-governance in J&K, Mayawati said corruption has crossed all the limits in the State and the people here are denied the basic amenities. “You cannot get your work done here without bribing the officers here. Give BSP a chance to form the Government here and all your problems would be resolved,” she maintained.
“We ruled Utter Pradesh for four terms and brought `Goonda Raj’ to an end. We controlled crime and improved law and order situation. There were no incidents of communal clashes during BSP Government and people’s faith in governance enhanced which was earlier shattered. For ensuring good governance in the State, the people should support BSP in J&K,” she added.
While highlighting the achievements of her tenures as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Mayawati claimed that during the BSP-led Government in UP, the State witnessed unprecedented development. She said the economic condition of the downtrodden people was improved, the landless people were given land, poor were provided two- room shelter and many other developmental works were taken up. “If you want your State to see development, you should give BSP a chance to form the Government here,” she said.
Mayawati said that while she was the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh there was not a single `Hindu-Muslim riot’ in the State. Accusing the BJP and Congress for working against the interest of the lower castes and the poverty-stricken people, she said BJP was making false promises to the people of J&K on the pretext of bringing good days in the State.
“Their (BJP) manifesto is a piece of lies and illusion as they never fulfill their promises, we don’t issue a manifesto as we believe in deeds not in the words,” she said.
Mayawati alleged that the successive Central Governments have failed to implement the recommendations of the Sachar Committee and with this minorities were made to suffer in the country. Despite more than six decades of independence, the minorities in the country including Muslims, Sikhs, Christians and others continued to have a bad economic condition. Central Governments have not implemented the recommendations of the Sachar Committee and therefore, these communities continued to remain poor and uneducated,” she maintained.
She maintained that Muslims and other minorities in the country are poor and lack proper education and even the poor in the upper castes have remained ignored by the successive Governments. The BSP is the only party which can provide justice to all the sections of the society. She appealed the people to support BSP candidates and ensure their victory in the ensuing Assembly elections.
Senior party leaders including national general secretary of BSP Narender Kashyap (Rajya Sabha MP), Avtar Singh Karimpuri (MP), State coordinator for Punjab and J&K Parkash Bharti, State president of BSP Tulsi Dass Langeh, vice president R K Chargotra besides several party candidates also addressed the rally. Unlike other national parties like BJP or Congress and maintaining its tradition, BSP leadership had made special arrangements to look after the people in media-gallery and take care of their proper seating arrangement.
