BJP’s acts promoted alienation of Jammu people: Bhalla

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Nov 21: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today accused the PDP-BJP Coalition Government of bringing an atmosphere of uncertainty in Jammu and Kashmir.
While interacting with the people of Bathindi and Sunjwan here today, Bhalla said the political environment in Jammu and Kashmir was never as frightening as it under the present regime of the opportunists BJP and PDP as they have spread an atmosphere of uncertainty.  He said from scaling down its fundamentals to bowing before a regional party, to the extent of crawling, the BJP presented itself in a very bad light before people of the Jammu region.
Bhalla said the electors felt terribly let down. They were hurt over their self-esteem being trampled in lieu of a few loaves of power for some. They realised that the ‘sense of deprivation’ is going to be inalienable part of their political struggle. They got disillusioned which is why Jammu witnessed no enthusiasm-‘repeat no enthusiasm’- over the BJP joining the Government first time in the past 70 years. The party which till yesterday had grouse of dispensing high dose of appeasement to Kashmir, at the cost of legitimate interests of the Jammu and Ladakh regions, became a willing partner to continue it.
For a split second, they did not think of winning over the dejected people of the region, which gave them 25 seats in a platter. The total alienation of the Jammu people from BJP is an open secret. They also know the situation has reached point of no return. The anti-BJP mood became discernible by two successful ‘Bandhs’.
In the process, the BJP leaders and ministers have almost become persona non-grata for Jammuites in general and the civil society in particular. Instead of learning lessons from their blunders, the BJP ministers and legislators have developed a psyche that this is going to be their first and the last chance to remain in power. This dangerous psyche has started manifesting in pompous and luxurious life style. They feel themselves at top of the world in the midst of spotlight, in the company of sycophants and remaining surrounded by crafty ‘Babus’. They want to reap all the benefits and incentives attached with their status.
Bhalla expressed dismay and anguish over what it termed as “brazen nepotism being promoted by the PDP-BJP Government. He said the present regime is “throwing all rules and regulations to winds.
