JAMMU, Mar 17: Former Minister and senior NC leader Ajay Sadhotra has said that anti-Kissan policies of the BJP Government has caused much damage to this farming community.
Addressing public meeting at Smailpur in Marh area of district Jammu today, Sadhotra said that BJP Government ditched the farmers by its anti-Kissan policies. He said BJP has adopted anti-Kissan policies and sense of deprivation has housed the hearts and minds of the farming community. The promises made with the farmers have only proved as hollow slogans. The prices of fertilizers, seed are touching the sky and Kissans are striving for irrigation water.
He said the Kissan Credit Cards and Crop Insurance Schemes have become a biggest deceit with the farmers as the banks are deducting the amount of Crop Insurance without the knowledge of Kissans and they are not being told under which insurance agency has insured their crops. Moreover, for how much money crop has been insured and in case of any damage to the crops, to whom Kissan will approach, poor Kissan does not know. It is very astonishing that crop insurance amount have been deducted from the Kissan Credit Card without prior knowledge of the Kissan and not any documentary proof of crop insurance is given to the Kisans as is given in case of Motor Vehicle Insurances, Life Insurances and Property Insurance.
National Conference leader said BJP is showing green pastures to farmers that in 2022 the income of Kissan will be doubled. Since BJP Government has come, the cost of farming has gone very high and return to Kissan is very little in 5 years.
He said recently BJP announced to give Rs 6000- per Kissan family per year. It is unfortunate that only 5 percent of the Kissans of the village are entitled for this. It has sent a wave of disappointment and frustration among them. Sadhotra said only National Conference can solve the problems of this community.
