JAMMU, Jan 16: The state BJP has expressed grief over the tragic accident on Doda-Bhaderwah Road leading to 9 deaths and injuries to many others.
In a press statement, party National Executive Member Dr. Jitendra Singh, while expressing sympathies with the bereaved families , blamed the insensitive approach of the Coalition Government as a result of which such accidents have become a routine matter and more number of deaths are taking place due to road accidents.
He also blamed the poor maintenance of the roads, particularly in hilly areas and over speeding coupled with over loading of the public transport vehicles for increasing road mishaps. The inefficiency of traffic police was responsible for this all, he added.
He said that most of the persons in Traffic Police are wasted in their deployment for the smooth flow of the VIP vehicles, whereas the sensitive points of roads remain unmanned. He further alleged that the presence of traffic police is more of cosmetic issuing random challans but not checking the irregularities, which lead to accidents to such an extent. He also referred to the wrong parking on the road sides in the Jammu city which has added to traffic hazards and causing risk to even pedestrians, particularly the elderly and children.
