NAGROTA, Nov 14: Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana on Thursday castigated Bharatya Janata Party for inciting communal passions and creating roadblocks in the path of progress and development.
Addressing a meeting of party delegates, functionaries, Sarpanchs and Panchs at Nagrota this afternoon, Mr Rana said the record of BJP is replete of obstructionism and disruption, which has directly hit the people of Jammu region.
“What has been the contribution of BJP except dividing the people and playing to the galleries”, Mr Rana said and referred to the worst role played by the party during Amarnath land row agitation and recently in Kishtwar. “Had the politically sagacious people not seen through their ugly game plan, the situation would have really turned volatile”, he maintained.
He said BJP has been hobnobbing with all those believing in disruption and exploitation as means to achieving political power. “With elections coming nearer, they will focus on construction of Ram Temple and abrogation of Article 370, which otherwise remain non-issues for them”, he said and cautioned the people against their political gimmicks.
Dwelling on the political developments taking place across the country, Mr Rana said that emergence of fascism is a big concern for secular and democratic forces, who have to tread the path carefully to alienate these by maintaining unity and tranquillity. “India is a vast nation, a world within a world, which cannot be run by pursuing a myopic agenda”, he said, adding that the way the point-man of Bharatya Janata Party Mr Narendra Modi wants to drive the nation is fraught with disaster”.
The Provincial President recalled the attempts made by peace inimical elements to divide the society on regional and religious lines from time to time and said the unity demonstrated by the people made them lick the dust. He declared that Jammu and Kashmir will prove waterloo for communal and divisive forces, saying those venturing to vitiate the atmosphere in the State will meet stiff resistance from the people, who believe in harmony, amity and brotherhood.
The Provincial President cautioned the people in general and National Conference workers in particular against divisive forces and urged them to work for cementing the bonds of brotherhood between various communities. He asked the party workers to prepare for big challenge in 2014 and generate awareness among the people about the programmes and policies implemented by Omar Abdullah led government for their economic emancipation and overall development.
Speaking on the occasion, former Minister and senior National Conference leader Pandit Govind Ram Sharma said that National Conference is guarantee to ameliorate the lot of people, especially those belonging to underprivileged sections and living in remote areas. He referred to the revolutionary initiatives taken by the present government in making the administration responsive to public needs.
