Talking to reporters here, today Dr Jitendra Singh said the voters of Jammu region deserve all credit for showing tremendous faith and confidence in BJP and the leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
“It is a hung Assembly. The way BJP performed, it was never before. It is an acknowledgement of our work. This is the result of inclusive approach. We will decide about further approach after meeting the MLAs” Dr Jitendra Singh said.
The Union Minister said BJP got a good vote share and party’s performance was ever best in the J&K. “There is a tremendous change in Kashmir during last 10 years of Modi Government as earlier there was a taboo in carrying BJP flag in Kashmir and now every third building in Kashmir the flag is hoisted”, he added.
“This is the acknowledgement of Modi Government’s efforts in bringing normalcy in Kashmir which created a new work culture there during last 10 years of BJP Government and people trusted us,” he said.
Dr Jirtendra Singh said “The trend of ‘Congress Mukt Bharat’ has continued in J&K. The wiping out of Congress from J&K is also result of ending the regional discrimination to which Jammu region was subjected for years together by earlier Governments”. “In last 10 years we gave equal share to every region,” he added.
He said Congress tried to create a false narrative about BJP in J&K as well as in North East (NE) but it miserably failed and like NE it (party) waned away in J&K also.
Dr Jitendra Singh, while giving credit to policies and programmes of party and hard work of its cadre, said unlike Congress or other opposition parties BJP is a party to give justice to last man in the queue.
Dr Jitendra Singh said one needs to appreciate the Modi Government for smooth elections in J&K with highest voter turnover in last over three decades. “There were no separatist slogans this time, no protests and no boycott call as nothing like that type happened during this time in elections”, he added.
He said the youth of Kashmir are aspirational and they too want to be part of the journey of Modi’s progressive India as they have realised that nothing was achieved due to turmoil in last over three decades but three generations were lost without achieving anything.
Dr Jitendra Singh said BJP Government wanted that elections in J&K be held in a fair manner and its succeeded in that. This is the biggest victory for Indian democracy which no one can deny, he added.
Denying that BJP has planted independents to split votes in Kashmir, Dr Jitendra Singh said that Kashmir has a trend of Independent candidates contesting elections from past many elections. The number of Independent candidates in the fray was lesser than in all previous elections so BJP has not planted any one of them, he added.
Maintaining that BJP fought poll on the plank of development, the Union Minister said that under PM Awas Yojana the mud houses were replaced by pucca houses and without any discrimination whether its beneficiary is a Hindu, a Muslim or a Sikh. The party believes in the principal justice to all and appeasement to none and we stick to it by all means, he added.
He said Congress created all type of myth about BJP but people rejected the party completely.
On Congress demand of restoration of Statehood to J&K, he said Prime Minister has many times made it clear that J&K’s Statehood will be restored. Even Home Minister, Amit Shah is on record of stating on the floor of the House that the Statehood will be restored to J&K. However, Congress thinks that they can create this narrative as it is to be announced by the Government and they can take the advantage, he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh said BJP has a work culture and unlike father-son duo party any decision is taken by the party in its meeting democratically. He said people have rejected the dynastic and scam tainted party. The verdict in Haryana and Jammu is reiteration of rejection of dynastic politics, he added.
