BJP’s Refugee Adhikaar Yatra rescheduled

Jammu, Oct 21: The State unit of BJP has rescheduled its programme to take out Refugee Adhikaar Yatra, which was postponed in view of the terrorist attack in Hiranagar and military camp in Samba earlier this month.
This was announced by BJP State General Secretary & Yatra Incharge Rajiv Jasrotia in a press conference at party headquarters on Monday along with the State Secretary Munish Sharma and State Press Secretary & Yatra Media Incharge Balbir Ram Rattan here today.
Rajiv Jasrotia said that the BJP has always stood with the refugees from West Pakistan, PoK and others, who have been agitating for decades for grant of citizenship rights and compensations for the properties left in their native places after the partition. These unfortunate people numbering in lakhs are living without their legitimate rights of citizenship in the state. He explained that three generations of refugees have perished demanding what they have been deprived of but the successive governments in the state did not bother to bring legislation aimed at meeting their demands.
Rajiv Jasrotia further said that the “Refugee Adhikaar Yatra” which was earlier scheduled for October 2 to October 6, was postponed as the party was of the view that the situation on borders of Kathua and Samba was not conducive to take out the yatra. He said now when the situation has come to normal, this yatra will commence on October 23 from “Chakkan-da-Bagh” in Poonch and after passing through Rajouri, Nowshera, Sunderbani, Akhnoor, Kathua, Samba and Jammu, it will culminate at R.S. Pura on October 30, covering 70 places.
