JAMMU, Jan 4: Terming the BJP’s `Sangathan Parv’ as a model of true democracy, BJP spokesperson, Dr Abhijeet Jasrotia said his party believes in internal party democracy by organising Sangathan Parv and holding organisational elections from booth level to national level while NC and Congress have always promoted their dynasties and never allowed internal democracy to flourish in their parties.
Talking to reporters here, today along with BJP media incharge, Dr Pardeep Mahotra, Dr Abhijeet Jasrotia said the BJP’s internal elections begin at the booth level and move through the Mandal, District, and State levels, culminating in the election of the national president. “This process ensures leadership reflects the will of the party workers at the grassroots,” he added.
Jasrotia taking a dig at Congress and NC said that the dynastic parties need to learn a lesson from his party which has taken a lead in strengthening nation and party and unlike the NC and Congress it has not been a family centric party.
“From Parivar Parv to Sangathan Parv; NC and Congress need to learn the basic lesson of true democracy, he said while strongly criticizing the NC and Congress for eroding democratic principles in their organizational and leadership structures. He contrasted their approach with the BJP’s commitment to fostering democracy through its Sangathan Parv.
Dr. Jasrotia said the NC and Congress use the word ‘democracy’ to hoodwink masses and workers to enjoy power corridors themselves.
Dr. Jasrotia highlighted a historical instance of undemocratic decision-making in Congress. “In 1946 Congress Working Committee (CWC) elections, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel received 12 votes, while Jawaharlal Nehru received just one. Yet, Nehru was selected as India’s first Prime Minister, disregarding the democratic mandate. This set the precedent for a system of selected rather than elected leadership in the Congress,” he stated.
He also accused the NC of replicating similar undemocratic practices in Jammu and Kashmir, which alienated the grassroots and created a culture of dynastic politics. “Both NC and Congress have betrayed the democratic spirit by sidelining grass root voices in favor of dynastic and elitist agendas,” Dr. Jasrotia added and appealed the people of J&K to reject the outdated and undemocratic practices of NC and Congress and embrace a new era of participatory politics under the BJP.
