JAMMU, Jan 22: Provincial president Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), Rattan Lal Gupta while welcoming the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ led by AICC leader Rahul Gandhi, has asserted that this Yatra will join the broken and fragmented erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement issued to media today, the senior National Conference leader lamented that Bharatiya Janata Party has divided the erstwhile state of J&K into two Union Territories thus fragmenting this crown region. He added that the Saffron party did not stop here but its leaders have even divided the people of the region on the basis of religion, castes and community.
He said the BJP leaders whether local or at the national level are leaving no stone unturned in creating a communal divide and fission on region and religious basis. He accused the BJP Government of changing Jammu and Kashmir into an abode of hatred, intolerance and violence just for their vested petty interests.
Gupta said that ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ is a symbol of unity and will definitely do wonders in strengthening the secular ethos of Jammu and Kashmir that has been reduced to tatters by the Bharatiya Janata Party through its proxy Government in this Union Territory. He said that the party is pursuing anti-people policies plunging the people of this region into unprecedented miseries.
Hoping that the Yatra will definitely provide some healing touch to the common people who have suffered a lot due to BJP’s misgovernance, he reiterated his party’s full support to the Yatra saying that its main aim is to expose the incumbent BJP Govt that has virtually murdered democracy especially in Jammu and Kashmir.
Condemning the twin blasts in Narwal, Gupta asserted that there is a dire need to strengthen the security grid in Jammu and Kashmir. The NC leader said that the said terrorist activities including killings have totally exposed the hollow policies of Central and State Governments which had given an assurance regarding the restoration of peace in J&K.
He asked the LG’s administration to brace-up the security grid and mobilize the intelligence network to ensure that such horrendous attacks should be stopped in the coming time.
