JAMMU, July 15: BJYM State spokesperson Chetan Wanchoo today called on Additional Chief Secretary/ Financial Commissioner Health and Medical Education Department, Atal Dulloo and sought his intervention in improving facilities at SDH Jagti, which is catering to the needs of displaced Kashmiri Pandits and residents living in the vicinity.
During the meeting, Wanchoo held threadbare deliberations on the pathetic condition of the aforesaid health facility which despite being so close to the Jammu City is proving out to be a wasteful exercise of the Government as the facilities and the services are not all satisfactory.
Wanchoo urged the Financial Commissioner Health and Medical Education to upgrade this health facility to trauma centre as well because due to its location near national highway, the hospital can become a saviour for accident victims as shifting them to GMC or other health facilities is a time consuming job and if SDH Jagti will provide the required services lot many lives can be saved.
The BJYM leader said that another difficulty which the people are confronting for the last many years is absence of various laboratories where the required clinical tests could be performed and absence of this facility has marred the basic purpose of existence of this hospital as treat these days is based on laboratory tests but for this patients have to move out. “Although, an ultrasound machine is there but the digital X-ray equipment has not been procured therefore doctors have to rely on manual X-ray machines which are archaic and outdated,” he said and also demanded a blood bank in the hospital.
After giving a patient hearing to the BJYM spokesperson, Atal Dulloo passed directions to Director Health Jammu to look into the matter on priority and take necessary action.
