SAMBA, Feb 8: Border Kissan Union (BKU), Ramgarh-Samba has shown great resentment over the reservation of Ramgarh constituency for SCs by the Delimitation Commission.
Talking to reporters at Ramgarh today the members of the Union led by its president Mohan Singh Bhatt said that the norms meant for declaration of reserved constituency in this case have been violated.
He said in declaring Ramgarh constituency reserved, there are obvious misconducts and failure in adoption of norms meant for the same.
He said at the outset, surprisingly the sketch of Ramgarh constituency has been marked from the Zero Line of Indo-Pak Border and covered the area even three Kilometres crossing over National Highway abutting the Samba town with the motto to add SC dominated population of adjoining area of Samba city only. It is necessitated that for proper justice the Katli and Dyani Panchayat of Samba be reversed in Samba constituency. Obviously this gamut is to clear the way for SC reservation and snubbing the voice of general categories and DPs of 1947, 1965 &1971 mostly populated in this border belt.
Pertinent to mention is that, the deducted area of Samba constituency and now added in Ramgarh already remained reserved for more than two decades and the rest Ramgarh area itself also remained reserved till 1996. This is quite against the democratic norms which the Constitution provided for.
He said in comparison to it Vijaypur constituency never remained reserved where in the SC population is almost equally at par with the Ramgarh constituency.
Further, The Ramgarh constituency is newly created and was not supposed to be reserved at once on its birth, he added.
The Union wanted to clear that maximum voters in the area were quite BJP supporters till date but this hoodwinking of Delimitation Commission while creating and reserving same has diverted the political mind set to teach the lesson to the delinquents. However, the attention of Commission is invited to review the case and declare the Ramgarh constituency as “General” to avoid the mass level agitation.
The others who participated included Prem Paul general secretary, Ravinder Choudhary , Arjan Singh, Manjit Singh, Nilam Choudhary etc.
