Blast in school housing polling booth for Baramulla polls tomorrow

SRINAGAR :  A blast occurred in a government school in Baramulla parliamentary constituency, going to polls tomorrow, official sources here today said.    However, a police spokesman said there was no designated polling booth in the school building.    Meanwhile, educational institutions, where polling stations have been set up, remained closed.    They said panic gripped Watergam area in the district, when a blast occurred inside a government school building in, Sopore in Baramulla district. However, no one was  injured.
Police spokesman said it was a petrol bomb which was hurled from outside towards the high school building.    He said window panes of the building were damaged due to the impact of the blast.
The blast in the school building took place a day after Army foiled a militant plan to carry out Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blasts to disrupt polling tomorrow.    A defence spokesman said seven IEDs were recovered from border area of Tangdhar where polling will be held.    He said intelligence inputs confirmed that militants had planned to trigger these IEDS during polling process.
