POONCH, Dec 28: With the arrest of main accused, Mendhar police has worked out blind murder of a woman in Chhunga area of tehsil Mendhar.
The accused identified as, Fayaz Ahmed, son of Mohd Shafi, is said to be brother- in- law ( Jija) of the deceased. He also hailed from the same village. A woman accused has already been arrested by police in this connection while the prime accused was evading arrest.
A police party under the supervision of SDPO Mendhar, Amit Bhasin conduted series of raids and arrested the accused Fayaz Ahmed from the house of his relatives at Lamberi in Nowshera last night. He had gone underground. He confessed his crime and the weapon of the offence was also seized.
Fayaz said he wanted to marry Shenaz Akhtar (deceased) but she had illicit relations with one Mohd Sadeeq. He said on December 15 he called her at an isolated place and after committing rape, stabbed her to death and then fled the spot. The weapon of offence, an axe was seized from the jungle by police.
It is pertinent to mention here that dead body of Shehnaz, wife of Late Mohd Rafiq was found lying in the jungle at Chhunga Charoon village on the evening of December 15. The body was removed to the hospital next day and then after postmortem it was handed over to the family.
