Blocked drain water creates health hazards in Samba

SAMBA, Mar 2: The drain of Ward Number 8 Samba has been lying blocked for the last several months and the entire drainage water seeps into adjoining residential houses in the area creating health hazards.
The people said during rainy season the water gets accumulated in the compounds of houses and lanes due to which the children face difficulty in going to school. It also enters the surrounding houses every day and due to the blockage there are cesspools of water emitting foul smell and the spread of epidemic looms large.
Local people living in Ward Number 8 have informed the Municipal Committee many times that the drain has been blocked for the last several months and the drainage water is entering into their houses but the Municipal Committee has yet not paid any attention due to which there is a lot of anger among the local people against the Municipal Committee Samba.
Excelsior correspondent while talking with local resident of Ward, Dharampaul Badyal and Rakesh Badyal said that for the past several months there is a drainage blockage adjacent to his house and entire dirty water of the drain is entering his houses due to which they are facing a lot of trouble. “We clean the drain every day and many times we have told the Municipal Committee Samba that dirty water is coming inside our house but the Committee is not paying any attention to it”, he added.
When the people ask the Municipal Karamcharis in the market deployed on cleanliness to clean the chocked drain they reply that there is no money with them.
The local people of Ward have also appealed to DC Samba, Rohit Khajuria to get this drain cleaned and also widened as soon as possible so that the water does not enter the houses of the people.
