Blocked sewerage pipes disturbing normal life in Ward-31

JAMMU, Oct 13: Residents of Many parts of Ward-31 are suffering due to blocked sewerage pipes and overflowing of litter and dirty water from it which spreads of streets and roads making it difficult to walk.
Darshan Sharma of Green Avenue, Talab Tillo said the litter comes out of the hole of sewerage even though there is a lid over it and spreads on the street near his home.
“On one hand it makes it tough to walk through such street and on the other hand it gives dirty smell making it tough to stay there,” he further said adding that many times they visit the offices of the concerned department but only get assurances and no action on ground.
Mohd Shabir of Bhawani Nagar informed that his locality too has similar problems because of chocked sewerage pipes due to which the litter spreads on roads.
“Many times we complained to the officers concerned and also to the JMC Councillor but no solution has emerged so far,” he maintained adding in this time of Corona pandemic they fear that this dirt and litter may further spoil the things.
Sucha Singh, JMC Councillor of Ward-31 when contacted said the concerned department is non-serious as many times deputations visited the officers who only gave assurances and did nothing on ground.
He further said when some pressure is put by some influential people then just for the namesake the blockade is cleared which again emerges within few days.
Similar problem is there in Nitco Lane and its adjoining areas of the Ward
The locals have urged upon the higher authorities to look into the matter else it may result in grave health hazard as presently the city is already facing COVID crisis.
