SRINAGAR, Aug 13: Dr. S. S. Bloeria, Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Jammu, met N. N. Vohra, Governor, at Raj Bhavan here today.
Dr. Bloeria briefed the Governor, who is Chancellor of the Central University of Jammu, about the to-date status of the teaching and research programmes, conduct of interviews to fill faculty positions, and the time frame within which construction of the university campus can commence on the site of the land acquired for establishing the Central University.
The Governor emphasized the usefulness of the essential facilities being established within an envisaged time frame. Dr. Bloeria informed the Governor that suitable accommodation has been hired to run the teaching programmes and for providing hostels for boys and girls. The teaching work is in full swing in 8 departments.
The Governor, who is Chairman of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, had discussions with Dr. Bloeria, who is also member of the Shrine Board, in regard to several new initiatives being taken for enlarging infrastructural facilities for the pilgrims in view of the progressively increasing yatra.
Meanwhile, Balwant Thakur, Director, Natrang, Jammu, who is also Regional Director of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, also called on Mr. Vohra.
Thakur briefed the Governor, who is Chairman of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, about the to-date status of the various projects which were commenced last year for preserving and showcasing heritage and performing art forms in the villages surrounding the Holy Shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Deviji. These programmes are supported by the Shrine Board. Thakur informed that, interalia, out of 110 groups of artists identified in the villages surrounding the Shrine, 45 of the groups had already been documented.
