Blood donation camp organised

JAMMU, Aug 27: A blood donation camp was organized by “Who is Hussain”-A social justice movement with teams in 90 cities across the globe in collaboration with Anjuman-e-Imamia Jammu, MEWSL (Mobilization Educational Society Ladakh) and All Ladakh Muslim Student Association Jammu (ALMSAJ), here today.
A good number of volunteers from different communities have donated blood during this worldwide campaign. This is a challenge to create a world record of collecting as many as 50000 units of blood across one calendar day.
The camp was inaugurated by Sohail Kazmi, senior journalist and Member JK Waqf Board. He also donated a unit of blood. While addressing the media Sohail Kazmi emphasized that every individual should join these kinds of campaigns which are purely a helping hand to the needy ones. He further said that no donation can save a precious life except blood donation.
Syed Amanat Shah, president Anjuman-e-Imamia Jammu said that the camp was organized to create awareness among the general public about the importance of blood donation. It is a global call for people to come forward and donate blood voluntarily.
Prof Sujat Khan Secretary Anjuman-e-Imamia Jammu said that on this occasion, points of blood were donated by the donors. He further added that their Anjuman every year donates blood on the day of Ashura but this year we have joined this blood donation campaign by “Who Is Hussain.org?” to make a world record of collecting maximum units in one calendar day.
“We are thankful to MESWL, ALMSAJ, Jammu Muslim United Front, Muslim Youth who have joined hand with us in this noble cause as no other donation is greater than a blood donation,” said Prof Khan.
