SAMBA, Nov 25: Fourth J&K Bn NCC unit of Dogra Degree College and Dogra Law College organised blood donation camp in collaboration with Govt. Hospital Gandhi Nagar wherein 60 cadets and students donated blood during the camp held in College premises, here today.
The camp was held to mark the ‘NCC Raising Day’ which is celebrated on the fourth Sunday of November every year. A mobile blood collection van of Govt. Hospital Gandhi Nagar was deployed and para medical staff under the instructions and supervision of Dr Uttra Sambyal were also deployed during the drive.
The camp started with a motivational lecture by Dr Uttra Sambyal, In-charge, Blood Bank, Govt. Hospital Gandhi Nagar. She explained to the cadets the importance of blood donation.
Inaugurating the camp, Gambhir Dev Singh Charak, member trustee, Dogra Educational Trust, said that it is a global call for the students and cadets to come forward to donate blood voluntarily and stressed that blood donation is a selfless contribution which benefits the patients who need care.
15 cadets accompanied with their ANO Dr Pankaj Mehta from Central University of Jammu also participated and donated blood.
Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary, Dogra Educational Trust, Dr Darshana Sharma, Director, Dogra Group of Colleges and CD, Bela Thakur, Principal, Dogra Degree College, Shuchi Sharma, Principal Incharge, Dogra Law College were present to motivate and applaud the volunteers.
The Director DGC and Principal DDC appreciated the efforts of Rishabh Bakshi, CT/ANO Dogra Degree College to initiate the idea of organizing camp and motivated students for this cause.
The voluntary blood donation camp was conducted successfully by Dr Uttra Sambyal, assisted by Parvinder Singh, (Lab Technician), Sunil Kaith, Lab Assistant (U/T), Anita, Lab Assistant (U/T) and others.
