JAMMU, Feb 24: To aware the masses regarding ‘Prevention of Aids’ & to promote the traditional culture of J&K, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan in coordination with Aids Control Society, Health and Medical Education of Jammu and Kashmir Government of Jammu and Kashmir, concluded 3 days special aids awareness campaign through folk media & presented with three other programs through Nukkad Natak / Short Play “HIV VISHANU HAI “at Village Tawa, Govt. High School, Seri Panditan & Village Chak Bhalwal, Jammu.
The program was inaugurated by chief guest Kala Khan, Naib Sarpanch, Panchayat Upper Kot Bhalwal. The guest of honour were Brinder Singh, Headmaster, Govt. High School, Seri Panditan, Nusrat Bano, 2nd Incharge, Govt. High School, Seri and Anu Kumari, Panch Ward No 5 Panchayat Halqa Seri Panditan.
Earlier, welcoming the dignitaries before concluding of the campaign Dr M. L. Dogra, Chairman, BLSKS explained about the awareness in behaviour change. Through this route the programme promotes prevention and aims to reach out to 80 percent of the high risk groups and 95 percent of the young people.
In fact, the awareness campaign of NACP has received a big boost with the formation of National Council on AIDS that has mainstreamed HIV prevention activities in various Government institutions and programmes. The programme focused on saturating an estimated four million high risk groups.
The singers, musician and actors who performed were K K Joshi (Troupe Incharge), Mahesh Chander Kotwal, Zulekha Bano, Bindia Okheda, Chahat Chadha, Kuldeep Raj and Sant Dass, Deepak Kumar, Troupe Coordinator presented vote of thanks.
