JAMMU, Aug 5: Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) in coordination with Sangam Tru Art Production presented its 168th Saturday Musical play series “Rakhi” at open Air theatre, Durga Bhawan Janipur Jammu, which was written, produced and directed by M L Dogra and the music was composed by Raju Bajgal, music instructor BLSKS.
The Program was inaugurated by V K Magotra while Dr Tara Singh Charak and Dr Anju Dogra were the guests of honour. The program commenced with song “Rakhri da Tiyohar”, “Bhaiya Mere Rakhi Ke Bandhan Ko Nibhana”, sung by the renowned artists Usha Handoo, Raju Bajgal, Rajni Gupta, Afroz Raaz, M C Kotwal, Hem Raj and K K Joshi.
The chief guest lauded the role of BLSKS and underlined the importance of staging of such plays in all parts of the State to generate the awareness of culture of our country.
Earlier in his welcome address BLSKS chairman M L Dogra said that Rakhi is an important event of the Hindu religion, and it has its roots in the Epics and Vedas. Rakhi has been celebrated since time immemorial, in ancient India, and till today on the history and origin of this wonderful festival that strengthens the bond between brothers and sisters. Raksha Bandhan – the Indian festival of tying the knot of amity, brotherhood and long life, is a symbol of seeking divine bliss. Not for the ‘self’, but for man on whose wrist the thread is tied. ‘Raksha’ is the word for protection. ‘Bandhan’ is the bond. So it signifies the bond of protection.
The singers, musicians, actors and students of music and computer institute who performed in the musical play were M C Kotwal, general secretary BLSKS, Hem Raj BLSKS secretary, Ganshyam Murari, Parul Sharma, Renu Saproo, Dhruv Pandit , Hem Raj, Himika, Priya, Bhumika Chib, Neelam Chib, Ridhima Parihar, Aditya Veer Parihar, Mantosh Beatha, Saksham, Afroz Raaz,and many others. Master Deepak Kumar presented vote of thanks for successful conduction of the program.
