JAMMU, Sept 19: Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sanasthan (BLSKS) staged in collaboration with Unison Cultural Troupe, Sangam Tru Art Production and ESRM staged musical play “Beti Bachao-Beti Padao” as parts of its regular feature at 197-Durga Bhawan, Janipur, Jammu.
The programe was inaugurated by the chief guest, Dr Tara Singh Charak, former Deputy Director, Health Department J&K Government.
Written and directed by chairman, BLSKS, ML Dogra, the play “Beti Bachao-Beti Padao” reflects the agony of two conservative families who are bent upon getting their daughter and son married at tender age, ignoring the advice of intellectuals of the society.
Soon the marriage turns into a disaster making the life of both bride and groom miserable. Even bride ends her life owing to pangs of pregnancy at childhood after delivery of a dead baby. The cries of baby girl in womb of the mother “Don’t kill me. I will be your helping hand in old age”, cautions all of us in the society.
The songs sung by the artists were “Dhiyan Gi Na Marro”, “Mang Rahi Hai Beti Jag Mai Jine Ka Adhikar”, ” Baiman Lok Kase Diya Mar De”, ” Sun -Sun Saheli Meri Sun, Paruhn Likhu Yehi Meri Dhun”, ” Kya Pier Kahun Apne Mann Ki”. The music was composed by Raju Bajgal.
The singers, musicians, actors who performed in the play were Usha Handoo, KK Joshi, MC Kotwal, Raju Bajgal (Harmonium/ Singer ), Tilak Raj (Tabla) and many others.
