BLSKS presents ‘Netar Dan Maha Dan’

JAMMU, Mar 31: To promote the traditional folk culture of Jammu and Kashmir and observe prevention of blindness week 2018, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) presented its 202nd Saturday Series Musical play “Netar Dan Maha Dan’, in collaboration with Sangam Tru Art Production at its office compound Open Air Theatre, Durga Bhawan, Disco More, Janipur, here.
The theme of the play was “Prevention of Blindness Week 2018”. The Musical play was written produced and directed  by ML Dogra, former Regional Director, Song and Drama Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India.
The programme was inaugurated by the chief guest Dr Tara Singh Charak, former Deputy Director, Health Department J&K, while RP Amla, Event Director BLSKS,  Dr AC Bhagat, former Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Dr Anju Dogra and JK Raina, Freelance Producer/ Director TV.
The programme began with presented of songs like  ‘Netar Dan Maha Dan’, ‘Jammu Sara Dogreden Da Shehar’, ‘Netar Dan Ka Gun Samjo’ and ‘Sun-Sun Saheli Meri Sun’, the music of which was composed by renowned Music Instructor, Raju Bajgal.
The songs were sung by the artists of BLSKS and the students of the institute.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest said that the Prevention of Blindness Week was first started by the Jawaharlal Nehru and Raj Kumari Amrit Kaur in the year 1960 under the Societies Registration Act of 1860.
He further said that another campaign “The Right to Sight” was launched by the WHO for the prevention of the blindness.
Earlier, VK Magotra, MD BLSKS  presented welcome address and said the Prevention of Blindness Week campaign is planned by the Government of India which is held from April 1 to April 7 for increasing the awareness towards the blind people.
The singers, musician, actors and students of music and computer institute who performed in the musical play were  Usha Handoo, Raju Bajgal, Rajni Gupta, MC Kotwal, Gouri Lal, Sant Dass,  Rakshit Sharma, Druv Pandit, Bodh Raj, Deevam Jandiyal,  Ujwal, Renu Sapoo,  Sumeeta  Bhat, Bindiya,  Mathali and Materi.
