Blue Map to achieve self sufficiency in petroleum products

BANGALORE, Dec 21: The Centre is preparing a Blue Map to achieve self sufficiency in petroleum products, Union Minister for Petroleum M Veerappa Moily said today.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function here, he said the ‘Road Map will be ready by 2016 to 18.’
He said at present 80 per cent of the petroleum products were imported and if things continues like this the import may reach 90 per cent and it would have bad impact on the country’s exchequer.
“It has been decided to bring down the import to 40 per cent from the present 80 per cent by utilising local sources. If we utilise avaiable resources we can save country facing financial crisis” he said.
On LPG cyclinder cap, he said the Centre will soon come out on the issue. The issue is being discussed and very soon a decision will be announced. (UNI)
