JAMMU, June 5: Health and Medical Education Minister Bali Bhagat has ordered suspension of Dr Shafqat Javed, Incharge Block Medical Officer (BMO), Atholi, Paddar in Kishtwar district while two other doctors posted under National Health Mission (NHM) have been recommended for termination from services after they were found absent from duty, a result of which a pregnant woman had to deliver a dead fetus in the Government hospital in PHC Atholi, Paddar.
During the suspension period, Dr Javed will remain attached in the office of Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Kishtwar.
On the instructions of Bhagat, the Director Health Services, Jammu has asked the CMO Kishtwar to recommend termination of services of Dr Asfia Fatima, MBBS (NHM) and Dr Rakesh Kotwal (ISM) NHM for being absent from duty at the PHC Atholi (Paddar).
Meanwhile, Dr Sumitra Devi, Medical Officer, District Hospital, Kishtwar, has been transferred and posted in PHC Atholi.
The patient Sushma Devi, 24, wife of Sewa Ram R/o Istihar had been brought to the PHC Atholi for delivery but she delivered dead fetus in the absence of doctors on duty. Dr Atri, who was posted under NHM as ISM doctor and Kamlesha Devi, Female Multi Purpose Health Worker, were forced to conduct the delivery in the absence of BMP and MBBS doctor, posted at the PHC.
