JAMMU, Aug 27: The members of Batwal community today alleged that all major political parties in Jammu and Kashmir are neglecting their community and if they continued this discrimination, leaving no other option we will field our own candidates in the Assembly elections.
This was stated by the president, Batwal Maha Sabha (BMS), Romesh Sargotra while addressing a press conference here today.
Speaking on the occasion, Sargotra said that the Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir are round the corner, but till date none of the political party has given mandate to the candidate of our community.
“Our community is the largest populated community in Jammu and is spread over majority population in Marh, Bishnah, Suchetgarh, RS Pura, Bahu and Jammu North constituencies. Despite this fact, our community has been neglected by all major political parties,” said Sargotra.
“We demand due share of Assembly seats from reserved constituencies from major parties like BJP and Congress. Failing which, we will decide our own way of voting and will field our own candidates in the Assembly elections in the said constituencies,” he added.
Among others who were present during the conference included Ram Lal Lakhotra, Duni Singh Mottan, Kamal Mottan, Gurdas Sargotra, Narayan Bassa, Uttam Sandhu and Rashpal Lakhotra.
