JAMMU July 23: Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) and all its affiliated unions celebrated its 69th Foundation Day all over the UT with enthusiasm today.
They distributed prasad and sweets among the workers. The functions were organised by Bhawan Nirman Mazdoor Sangh at NHPC Rattle Power Project, Drabshalla, Kissan Mazdoor Union at Pakkal Dul, Power Project, Kishtwar, Anganwadi Workers Welfare Association Jammu, BMS District Committee Reasi, BMS District Committee Udhampur, BMS District Committee Kathua. The BMS District Committee held programme at their respective districts. The BMS units which held the programmes included J&K Bank Officers Organisation Jammu, NHM Employees Association Jammu, Jammu Club Workers Union, BMS District Committee Samba etc.
The BMS Flag was hoisted by Neelam Sharma State general secretary, BMS in its State office, where office bearers of UT unit participated. While addressing the workers Ashok Choudhary, Sangthan Mantri, BMS highlighted the objectives of BMS. He said Dhotopant Thengdi in 1955 while announcing to form a national level Trade Union strictly announced that BMS shall be of the workers for the workers and from the workers most importantly its character will be non political and anyone who wishes to join politics has to quit the BMS. He laid three principles and BMS is working on these principles.
Harbans Choudhary while speaking on the occasion stressed upon the Labour Department for strictly implementation of labour laws as at present there is grave violations as 12 hours duty are being taken but over time is not paid. He said accordingly no wage slips are being given in any industry neither earned leaves are given to Contract laborers. He further demanded that minimum wages be also linked with VDA so that workers may get annually increment BMS also appealed to Governor that full fledge Assistant Labour Commissioners be appointed at Kathua, Kishtwar and Doda.
Ashfaq Ahmed Chowan, president BMS, Jiwan Thakur, Naseeb Singh, Dev Parkash, Kuldeep Singh, Chanan Singh Toor, Rohit Seth, Sawarna Choudhary, Mukesh Kumar, Shamsher Chand, Rajesh Jamwal, Subash Chander and Rohit Seth attended the programmes among others at BMS Foundation Day functions across the UT.
