BMS protests against anti-labour policies of Govt

JAMMU, July 8: Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) today held a protest demonstration in different districts of Jammu region against the anti-labour and anti-Government employee’s policies adopted by the Central as well as State Governments.
The workers from different industries and establishments assembled in the office premises of Deputy Commissioner Samba under the leadership of State president, BMS, Subash Verma and raised slogans against the Government for its failure to resolve the burning issues of labour/employees.
They demanded that the labour reforms which are going on without consultation with the labour unions be stopped, enhanced bonus payment be implemented from 2014, anomaly in the 7th Pay Commission be removed immediately and investment of provident fund money in the share market be stopped immediately.
They also demanded that Anganwadi workers/Asha workers be declared as Government employees and notification regarding Rs 10,000 salary to contractual workers as agreed by the Central Government be issued without any further delay.
Other demands of the Sangh include strict enforcement of labour laws in whole country, fixation of minimum wages at Rs 15,000 per month, conduct of inspections on local level on complaint of violation of ESI and provident fund and linking ESI as well as PF contribution limit with CPI for maximum coverage instead of fixing it after a gap of more than 5 years.
The Sangh also submitted a memorandum of demands to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi through their president, Subhash Verma.
Among others who addressed the workers include Ashok Choudhary (general secretary, BMS) Harbans Choudhary (vice president, BMS) and Shamsher Chand (district president, BMS).
