BMS to hold dharna cum demonstration on Sept 25

JAMMU, Sept 21: Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) has decided to hold dharna cum protest demonstration on September 25 in front of Deputy Labour Commissioner’s office, Jammu, against the failure of the Government to check the implementation of statutory provisions of labour laws.
Chairing the meeting of BMS, its president, Thakur Karnail Chand, expressed concern over the plight of poor industrial and other private sector workers. He said that no overtime is being paid to the so called contractual workers, who are also being deprived of the payment of bonus whereas all the workers are entitled to get bonus under Bonus Act 1965.
He also maintained that minimum wages are not being revised despite completion of all the formalities under Minimum Wages Act 1948. The Government is favouring the industrialists by deliberately not revising the minimum wages of the poor industrial and other private sector workers, he further said, adding the poor workers are being exploited in the hands of State Government and industrialists.
The Labour Department officials responsible for proper implementation of labour laws kept mum on labour welfare legislation, he alleged and announced that the workers representatives have decided to hold dharna cum demonstration against the Government on September 25. Harbans Choudhary, MK Gupta, Ashok Choudhary, Sachin Bali, Ravinder Singh, Surjeet Kumar, Nanak Chand, Yog Raj Singh and Shamsher Singh were present in the meeting.
