Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, July 11: VHP today accused the State administration as well as Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) of their negative attitude towards the Amarnath yatris.
Talking to reporters here, today, VHP senior leader and patron, Dr Rama Kant Dubey alleged that Government as well as Shrine Board has failed to provide facilities for smooth conduct of annual Amarnath yatra and pilgrims reaching here from different parts of the country were put to many hardships.
He said the claims made by both Board as well as the Government have proved totally hollow and they have been exposed before the people. Dr Dubey alleged that the situation is worst at registration counters at Jammu as no proper facilities have been provided by Government either at registration counters of Vaishnavi Dham, Saraswati Dham, Jammu Haat or Geeta Bhawan. The authorities have failed to construct refuge sheds for yatris at these places to save them from scorching heat or heavy down pour of Monsoon. The yatris have to wait in long queues for registration during the scorching heat or heavy rains.
Dr Dubey demanded that the registration counters be covered by plastic sheets. He termed the coupan system a total fraud alleged that the yatris are being harassed this way.
He while condemning the dismantling the tents of langer people at Baltal yesterday, said that this way the pilgrims are being harassed both by police and administration. Dr Dubey said that yatris have complaints everywhere. Whether in Baltal, Nunwan, Panchtarni or any other place they are facing hardships and harassment through the hands of the authorities. He also criticized the Shrine Board for its dismal performance and said that Board is a religious body and its employees should not misbehave with yatris.
He made an appeal to Governor N N Vohra who is the Chairman of the Shrine Board to look into the matter. Dr Dubey also made a similar appeal to Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed who is also looking after Home Department and sought his intervention in the matter.
