Board modified, medical deferred

JAMMU, June 25: Government Medical College (GMC) Principal Dr Zahid H Gilani today modified the Medical Board set up to examine Yasir Alfaz, who has been accused of desecration of temple in Roop Nagar on June 14.
The Board was modified to include one more Psychiatrist in it as Yasir was said to be “mentally unstable’’.
As per the GMC Principal’s order issued today, Dr Rameshwar Singh, Psychiatrist, Department of Psychiatry, GMC Jammu, has been inducted in the Medical Board in place of Dr Annil Mahajan, HoD Medicines Department, to examine Yasir.
The members of the Board now included Dr B N Bhougal, Department of Medicines, Dr Shabnam Rivees, Psychologist from Department of Psychiatry, Dr B R Kundal, Neurologist from Department of Neurology, Dr Rakesh Banal and Dr Rameshwar Singh, Psychiatrists, both from Department of Psychiatry.
However, Medical examination of Yasir couldn’t be conducted today as activists of some organizations had gathered outside the Psychiatrist Hospital right from the morning after getting report that Yasir was being taken for the medical check-up.
Sources said the medical examination of Yasir will now be conducted at a later date.
Meanwhile, authorities have constituted Special Investigating Team (SIT) headed by SP Headquarters Romesh Kotwal for investigating the case of desecration of temple at Roop Nagar.
