BoD conducts post-mortem, Chamel cremated

JAMMU, Mar 14: Body of Chamel Singh, a prisoner who was beaten to death in Kot Lakhpat Rai jail at Lahore, Pakistan on January 15, was cremated at his native village at Bhalwal Molu in Pargwal area of Akhnoor tehsil this afternoon after post-mortem was conducted on the body at Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu this morning.
A Board of Doctors comprising Deepa Hans from Forensic Medicines, Dr Shehzad Qureshi from Medicines, Dr Mohammad Farooq from Orthopedics, Dr Vikrant from Surgery and Dr Sindhu Sharma from Pathology under the supervision of Forensic Medicines HoD and Professor Bhupesh Khajuria conducted the post-mortem in the GMC Jammu and handed over the body to the family members.
Sources said the doctors through diplomatic channels would seek first post-mortem report from Jinnah hospital in Lahore before giving their opinion on reasons behind the death of Chamel Singh.
Meanwhile, people held protest demonstration and burnt Pakistani flags during cremation of Chamel Singh at Bhalwal Molu this afternoon. Shops in the area remained close during cremation.
