Exemplary punishment for accused demanded

KATHUA, Aug 12: The body of slain Havaldar, Mohammed Yunus of Pouni, Reasi was handed over to his family members today at District Police Lines (DPL) Kathua.
The body was handed over to brother of deceased Sher Ali and his daughter for last rites after completion of all formalities.

The police honor was also given to deceased at Police Line Kathua. On the occasion DIG, Jammu, Samba, Kathua Range, Atul Goel and SSP Kathua, Romesh Kotwal were present. The Kathua police has registered a case against accused police personnel and put him behind the bars. The further investigation is on into the matter.
The family members of slain Havaldar demanded stern action against the accused police personnel Iqbal Singh who has opened fire with his Service Rifle and shot dead Mohd Yunus at DPL Kathua last night. The deceased’s brother Sher Ali in tears said that they want justice as his innocent brother was shot dead by a dead drunk police man in barrack of DPL, Kathua.
He accused the Police Department of enrolling such drunken and misconduct people in the police force as they can shoot anyone including a senior officer. He added that the accused was suspended few days back and was reinstated later. He asked who had issued a weapon to him and allowed him to move in Police Line. He demanded inquiry into the matter and exemplary punishment to the accused so that such an inhuman and barbaric act never takes place in the Police Force.
If such things are allowed to happen, a cop can kill any one including the seniors.
The minor daughter of the slain cop who was sobbing recalled the memories of her father who left them wailing and sobbing.
The unfortunate incident took place last night in a barrack of District Police Line, Kathua when Selection Grade Constable, Iqbal Singh of Shabe Chak Hiranagar No 959/K fired five to six rounds from AK-47 and killed HC Mohd Younus No 201/K, son of Gulam Nabi of Bharakh tehsil, Pouni district Reasi, over some argument between both of them. Mohd Younus died on spot and was shifted to GMC Kathua mortuary for post mortem. The body was handed over to family members after post mortem and completion of all the legal formalities.
