BELAGAVI, Nov 9:
Deputy Commissioner SB Bommanahalli, Army officers and senior police officials received at Sambra Air Port today the body of Martyr soldier Rahul Sulgekar, who was martyred in a gun battle with terrorists at Krishna Ghati sector area of Poonch district in Jammu & Kashmir yesterday.
Twenty two year-old Rahul Bhairu Sulgekar joined Army in 2015 and served in Rajasthan and was working at Poonch sector since last 18 months.
Top officers of Military, Police, MLAs Abhay Patil, Anil Benake, Zilla Panchayat CEO K V Rajendra and scores of people paid their last respects to the departed soul.
The mortal remains was taken to his native Uchagaon village for last rites.
According to family sources Rahul Sulgekar hailed from soldiers family. In fact he was inspired to join Army by his family members. His father Bhairu Sulgekar is Ex Serviceman and his elder brother Mayur B Sulgekar is serving in the Army.
Business establishments and shop owners in the village downed their shutters as a mark of respected to the departed young and brave Martyar Rahul Sulgekar. (UNI)
