GOC reviews Anti-Infiltration Grid

Srinagar, Sept 17: Security forces today recovered a body, believed to be that of a militant, near a hideout at Gadoole forest area of Kokernag where a massive anti-militancy operation is underway for the fifth consecutive day.
An official said that the identity of the deceased person was not immediately ascertained and it appears that the body is that of one of the militants.
The Army pounded the militant hideout with RPGs during the last four days in which it was destroyed. A charred body was recovered from the hideout today and it is believed to be that of a militant.
He said that thousands of troops are conducting a massive operation against the militants who are hiding in the forest area. Click here to watch video
The massive operation in Gadoole area started on Wednesday when militants fired at a joint team of police and aArmy killing Colonel Manpreet Singh (CO 19RR), Major Ashish Dhonchak and Deputy Superintendent of Police Humayun Bhat while two soldiers were injured. One of the soldiers later succumbed to the injuries.
Yesterday Army’s Northern Commander Lt. Gen Dwivedi along with other officers visited the site of the gunfight to take stock of the operational situation.
He was briefed by the ground commanders regarding the operation in which hi-tech equipment like drones and helicopters have been pressed for surveillance.
Earlier this week, ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that two to three militants are trapped in the forest area and would be neutralised soon.
Meanwhile, General Officer Commanding Chinar Corps Lt General Rajiv Ghai today visited the forward areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri to review the Anti-Infiltration Grid.
The visit comes a day after three infiltrating militants were shot dead by the army yesterday.
Lt Gen Ghai visited the forward area in Uri Sector to review the Anti-Infiltration and Counter Militancy Grid along the LoC.
The Commander was given a detailed briefing about the counter-infiltration grid that is in place along the LoC. He was told that the army is conducting regular patrols along the LoC and in the nearby forest area to prevent any infiltration of militants into the Indian side in the sector.
The Corps Commander commended troops for maintaining the highest standards of combat readiness and operational preparedness.
He also complimented the troops for the successful conduct of ‘Operation Khanda’ in which three militants were eliminated on September 16.
Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and Intelligence agencies foiled an infiltration bid on Saturday in the morning hours along LoC in Uri Sector during which three militants were eliminated.
