JAMMU, Feb 19: A male dead body was found amidst river Tawi near Rajiv Colony, here today.
According to a police spokesperson, a male dead body was spotted by some locals amid River Tawi near Rajiv Colony here this morning following which they informed the police. A team of police from police post Nehru Market, Vikram Chowk, led by Sub-Inspector Khairati Man Khajuria reached the spot, evacuated the body from river and shifted it to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu for identification and postmortem.
Later, the dead body was identified as Khairati Lal (38-40) son of Dev Raj, a resident of Bahu Fort. After conducting post mortem, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites.
However, suspecting it a case of suicide, the police has registered a case under relevant Sections. The actual cause of the death of the deceased may be known after the report of the post mortem comes.
