*Meets fans, relatives; pays obeisance at Kuldevi temple

JAMMU, Mar 7: Son of the soil and Bollywood actor Vidyut Jamwal, who was in Srinagar for last several days to shoot for Hindi movie “IB 71’, produced under his banner Action Hero Films, today arrived in his home town Jammu, where he was given a royal welcome by his relatives, friends and thousands of fans.

The ‘Commando’ actor was welcomed with beating of ‘dhols’ by his friends and fans on his arrival at Jammu airport, from where he directly went to his maternal aunt’s house at Talab Tillo, opposite Bee Enn Hospital. After meeting with his aunt and cousins, Vidyut headed towards his native place Bhalwal, where his paternal uncle still resides. Hundreds of his fans in two-wheelers and four-wheelers chased him right from the airport to his hometown.
He was taken to the venue with dhols played by locals. Thousands of villagers were already gathered there to get a glimpse of the actor and take selfie with him, but Vidyut straightway went inside his uncle’s house, took blessings of his elders by bowing on their feet and then paid obeisance at his Kuldevi temple, showing how deep he is connected with his roots.
Thereafter, Vidyut met with thousands of fans and media persons waiting outside the house, shared with them his childhood memories and his experiences in Mumbai as a struggler and an actor. He also entertained the fans by singing the famous Dogri song ‘Aaoon galanian sach ve….. mere banku de ya chachua’ and received great applause from the fans.
Speaking to media persons, the actor said that he has come to his home town Jammu after several years but memories of the City of Temples are always with him. He said being kid of an Army officer, he got chance to live in various places across the country but during Summer vacations, he used to visit his relatives in Jammu and enjoy traveling in matadors across the vast expanses of Jammu with his friends and cousins.
“I used to frequently visit and walk across the Tawi bridge and go to Bawe Wali Mata and holy Mata Vaishodevi Shrine in Katra with my friends. It is all due to blessings of Bawe Wali Mata and Mata Vaishno Devi that I could make my place in Bollywood without any Godfather,” he expressed. Speaking about his struggle, Vidyut said he started with small modeling assignments and later got role in South Indian films.
Vidyut encouraged everyone, who attended the celebration, to pursue their dreams with passion and work hard for them. Inspiring people, he said, “I have received help by many people in the film industry and likewise, I will definitely support and empower talent. It’s all about hard work. If you have talent, come to me without hesitation. I will help you.”
Encouraging the Jammu youth in his own style, Vidyut said ‘Mai us maati ka vriksh nahi jisko nadiyon ne sincha hai, banjar maati me janma mai mrityu se jeevan kheencha hai’ (I am not a tree of that soil which has been irrigated by rivers, I have born in barren land and pulled life from death).
The actor said he was offered to shoot the film in Switzerland, but he insisted to shoot in J&K. “I am proud that I’ve shot for my first production in Jammu and Kashmir and I’ve done my best to capture its beauty. I get so much love on social media for my work and I’m happy to love people back,” he added.
Vidyut made his Bollywood debut in the year 2011 with ‘Force’ in villain role. Thereafter, he acted in many films including Bullet Raja, Commando, Baadshaho, Junglee, Yaara, Sanak and Khuda Haafiz. Besides IB 71, his upcoming films are Indian 2 and Khuda Haafiz Chapter II.
