JAMMU, Aug 8: J&K Orthopaedic Association organised weeklong activities from August 1 to 7 to commemorate Bone and Joint Day to create awareness among general masses about bone and joint health, preventive aspects and promoting healthy lifestyle.
A handout of the Association stated that this year theme for Bone and Joint Day was ‘Prevention of Deformities in Degenerative Diseases’.
The Association observed Bone & Joint Week across the J&K Union Territory with great zeal wherein all the medical colleges and peripheral health institutions participated.
In view of COVID-19 pandemic main focus was kept on virtual educational lectures and awareness talks on radio and television.
Other activities included distribution of pamphlets, displaying of posters in hospitals and clinics all over the UT and applying awareness logos on the cars.
A special yoga session was also observed following all SOPs at ASCOMS hospital to educate the students and the staff about the importance of yoga and exercise in maintaining bone health.
In view of COVID-19 situation, no free surgeries, free BMD camps or extensive free camps were held this year.
