JAMMU, Nov 28: Book titled “Dharamkshetra Yudhkshetra Kurukshetra” penned by profilic writer and poet of Dogri, Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi and English and an eminent educationist of J&K, KK Shakir was released by Nami Dogri Sanstha here.
The book is based upon historical essays on various historical places in and around Kurukshetra. Prominent among these are Pashupati Temple, Pehowa Temple, Sathaneshwar, Bhim Kund, Brahm Sarowar, Jyotisar where Lord Krishana gave ‘Gita Updesh’ besides Sunihitsar, Bhaderkali the Mundan place of Lord Krishna, Shakti Peeth, Lord Krishna Museum and Maqwara of Saint Sheikh Chulli.
This is the 15th book of Shakir, who has earlier penned three books in Punjabi, two in Urdu, two in Dogri, two in English and six books in Hindi. Five of his books are on historical places of Jammu. The current book he wrote at Kurukshetra in 2003, when his class fellow a renowned social worker and veteran politician, Babu Parmanand was Governor of Haryana.
Kavinder Gupta, former Deputy Chief Minister of J&K was chief guest on the occasion whereas the function was presided over by Advocate Purnima Sharma, Deputy Mayor of JMC. Sohail Kazmi was guest of honour, Rohit Choudhary was special guest and Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary of J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages was special invitee. Advocate Dogra Harish Kaila, President, NDS shared the dais. The proceedings of the function were compered by Yash Pal Yash, General Secretary of NDS.

Earlier, Capt Lalit Sharma, Convener of NDS presented the welcome address.
Advocate Purnima Sharma said that KK Shakir has ably covered all religious dimensions of Kurukshetra in his book and the contents of the book are very educative.
Sohail Kazmi, Rohit Choudhary, Dr Arvinder Singh Amn and Advocate Harish Kaila also expressed their views.
In the end, Yash Pal Yash extended vote of thanks.
