JAMMU, Feb 4: A book titled ‘The Indomitable Pawars’ was released in a function held here today.
The book written by Col J P Singh was released by State Election Commissioner, B R Sharma and former DGP Ashok Bhan relesed Col J P Singh’s another book, “The Indomitable Pawars”.
The book is a compilation of the contributions of legendary personalities of Pawar village of Gandharwan, Akhnoor.
Col J P, versatile writer, hails from this historic village whose history has roots to the Medieval period. While exploring the geography of northern India, a 12th century King, Raja Jagdev Rai, descendant of Raja Bhoj, found a place, Virat Nagri on the western bank of Chenab near Akhnoor and renamed it as Ambara, after the name of Goddess Amba. It later came to be known as Ambaran. The Pawar/ Ambaraian dynasty ruled over Akhnoor from 1151 to 1745 AD.
Col. J P has written about the recent generations of Pawars of Gandharwan and tried to connect the past with present day generation.
Pawar’s another legend, Rajendra Singh Pawar has penned the Foreword of the book.
He is a well-known entrepreneur, chairman and co-founder of NIIT Limited and was awarded Padam Bhushan for immense contributions.
