Bootlegger arrested by Samba police, illicit liquor recovered

SAMBA, Mar 9: Continuing its drive against the sale of illicit liquor, Samba police has arrested a bootlegger and recovered ten bottles of illicit liquor of 750 ml each from his possession in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Vijaypur.
Police said acting on reliable information about sale of illicit liquor in Vijaypur, a police party of Police Station, (PS) Vijaypur headed by SHO, PS Vijaypur raided the place and caught the accused person along with his scooty bearing Registration Number JK21H-4086 while indulging in sale of illicit liquor to general public at exorbitant rates. During search, ten bottles of 750 ml each (Black Bull Rum six bottles, Royal Stag three bottles and Signature one bottle) were recovered from his possession along with cash of Rs. 4725/- earned by selling illicit liquor, police said.
The arrested person has been identified as Sham Lal, son of Ram Krishan of W. No. 5 Vijaypur, district Samba. A case FIR No. 34/2024 U/S 48 (a) (f) Excise Act has been registered at Police Station, Vijaypur and investigation started, police said.
