MENDHAR, Apr 23: During the ongoing COVID- 19 lock down, Army and police during joint naka intercepted a car and seized 168 bottles of illicit liquor.
Official sources said that during naka at Army TCP Gate at Mendhar Town, in district Poonch Army jawans intercepted one person namely Mohammad Ishfaq, son of Mohammd Shariq, resident of Dharana village along with WagonR vehicle bearing registration No. DL 3C AZ 4372 and arrested the bootlegger and recovered 168 bottles of illicit liquor.
Sources said that this vehicle managed to cross several police nakas and managed to enter Mendhar town. This vehicle even crossed BG Naka.
When the car was given signal by Army jawans near the gate to stop, sensing trouble, the driver hit the car with wall outside Army unit in Mendhar and the driver was taken under control by Army and handed over to Mendhar police.
The police has registered FIR No. 75/2020 under Section 48 Excise Act at Police Station Mendhar against the accused person. Further investigation was in progress. Police was loking for the source from where this liquor has been brought.
