Bootlegger held, 25 bottles of illegal whisky seized

KATHUA, Oct 20: In a significant crackdown on illegal liquor trade, the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kathua, under the overall supervision of SSP Shobhit Saksena, arrested a bootlegger and seized 25 bottles of JK Excise Whisky (750 ml each) in the jurisdiction of Police Station Malhar.
A police team from Police Station Malhar, led by SDPO Billawar and SHO Police Station Malhar, apprehended the accused, identified as Mohd Rafi, son of Mohd Sharief and a resident of Nathi, Tehsil Lohai Malhar, District Kathua. The arrest took place during a naka (checkpoint) operation in the Malhar area when the accused was found moving under suspicious circumstances.
Upon searching his belongings, the Police recovered 25 bottles of JK Excise Whisky, which were being transported illegally with the intention of being sold for profit. The entire consignment of illicit liquor was seized, and the accused was arrested on the spot.
A case has been registered against Mohd Rafi under FIR Number 20/2024 U/S 48 (a) of the Excise Act at Police Station Malhar, and further investigation is underway.
