KATRA, July 1: Continuing its drive against the smuggling of liquor to holy town, Katra Police has arrested a bootlegger and seized 26 poly pouches of J&K Excise liquor from his possession.
Reports said that a Police party, led by SHO Katra, Inspector Kuldeep Krishan, under the supervision of SDPO Dr Ashok Sharma and Addl SP Sameer Kotwal, intercepted the accused during checking at Balini.
During frisking of the accused, identified as Sohan Lal, son of Panu Dass of Parthal Serwad, who was on his scooter, 26 poly pouches of J&K Excise liquor and one bottle of Royal Stag whisky were recovered from his possession.
The accused person is a vegetable vendor and has been running his shop at Serwad. He was smuggling the liquor for its illegal sale in holy town Katra.
Police arrested the accused and seized illicit liquor as well as the scooter, bearing registration number JK02P-0506.
