Udhampur, Mar 28 : Police seized 39 pouches of illicit liquor in the jurisdiction of Police Station Chenani and arrested one bootlegger who was transporting these pouches in a vehicle for illegal sale.
Reports said that Police on a tip off carried out checking of one Maruti van without number at Chenani naka point which was on its way from Chenani towards Sudhmahadev. During checking/frisking of vehicle, police recovered 39 pouches of J&K Excise liquor from the possession Raj Kumar son of Madan Lal resident of Sudhmahadev in Chenani. He was transporting these pouches in the said vehicle for illegal sale at his native village. The accused person was arrested on the spot and pouches of J&K Excise were seized.
A case FIR No. 22/2014 was registered at Police Station Chenani in this connection.
