Bootlegger held with illicit liquor

JAMMU, Sept 10: Police in Jourian area here claimed today that they have arrested a bootlegger and recovered 200 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession.
A police spokesperson said that a party of Police Post Jourian headed by PSI Karnail Singh, incharge Police Post Jourian, established a naka at Jadh area.
During naka checking, he said, a vehicle coming from Akhnoor towards Kaleeth area was put to search, resulting in recovery of 200 numbers of quarters of JK Special Whisky of 180 ml each.
Accordingly, the spokesperson said that the driver of the vehicle, identified as Parveen Kumar alias Deepu of Dhanger, Tehsil Khour, was arrested and booked in case FIR number 255/2023 under Sections 48(a) and 48(f) of the Excise Act registered at the concerned police station.
Further investigation into the case is on, he added.
