Border Areas Development Authority demanded

JAMMU, July 22: Dr Shazad Malik, Vice Chancellor of Sai Nath University, a native of border town Mendhar, Poonch who is on a visit to the State visited over two dozen border villages and interacted with people there.
After visiting border villages Malik demanded constitution of a Border Areas Development Authority (BADA) to cater the need of developmental activities in border areas.
He requested Union Home Minister and Governor, N.N Vohra to formulate a joint team comprising officers from Ministry of Defence, Home and J&K Police besides Civil Departments for deliberations to establish BADA.
The VC further said that habitations near borders and LoC are totally different therefore need a full-fledged developmental authority under direct supervision of defence experts.
He said a huge area of districts like Kathua, Samba, Jammu, Rajouri and Poonch of the State either share international border or LoC.
