POONCH, Mar 3: Demanding immediate start of work on Polytechnic in Poonch, former National Conference MLA Ajaz Jan has called for an urgent need to pay attention towards this issue.
A deputation of National Conference led by Jammu provincial President of Youth NC, Ajaz Jan called upon Deputy Commissioner Poonch MH Malik and raised their concern on inordinate delay in construction of Poonch Polytechnic.
They also informed him that in 2013-14, Omar Abdullah led NC-Congress coalition sanctioned a polytechnic college for Poonch for which an amount of Rs 8 crore was also sanctioned and land was identified but due to 2014 floods, the project initiation got delayed. He alleged that previous PDP-BJP Govt paid no attention towards the issue.
The NC leader pointed out that after shelling in August-September 2015, large scale damage took place in border areas including in Saujiyan and Balakote but so far no compensation has been paid to the affected families for loss of their property as well as ex- gratia for those who lost lives in shelling.
He also informed that after shelling, a large number of families including in Degwar, Maldyalan, Kerni, Qasba, Salhotri, Khari, Gagriyan, Saujiyan, Fakirdara and other such forward villages migrated to inner areas and all these families should be provided alternate lands for sustaining their lives.
