JAMMU, July 4: BJP State President & MLA Jugal Kishore Sharma charged the NC-Congress coalition of discriminating with the border people in Pallanwala and other villages of Khour block.
Addressing a massive public rally at border town of Pallanwala in Khour Assembly Constituency, he said that whenever there is firing from across the border, these people suffer losses in the shape of human lives, crops and cattle and many times they have been uprooted.
He said except lip services, the Government has not done anything concrete. The border area in Akhnoor and Khour has the distinction of having four elected representatives of Congress, including Deputy Chief Minister, Member of Parliament and State Cabinet Minister but still people are suffering.
He said that majority of the refugees from West Pakistan also reside in border belt but their grievances still remain unattended even after 65 years.
He said that the Government should give relief and compensation for the agriculture land which is located on the other side of Army wire.
BJP National Executive Member & former State President Dr. Nirmal Singh, while taking the State Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to task for creating confusion over AFSPA, said that the people are suffering on account of border firing, ration, water, electricity etc and the Government is sleeping. He said that the youth is being misled in the name employment.
During last 12 years, the number of posts in backlog has gone to 80,000 and have not been filled, which itself expose the Government’s policy towards youth, he said. The border people still remember BJP-led NDA under Atal Behari Vajpayee, which started BADP scheme but unfortunately its benefits are not reaching the people, he added.
BJP Khour Mandal senior leader Chaman Lal Kanathia accused successive Governments of their total failure in redressing the problems of border people.
