KATHUA, Aug 19: The residents of Hiranagar border area held a protest demonstration against the regular and unprovoked firing by Pakistan Rangers in populated areas of Hiranagar sector in Kathua district.

The border villagers led by Border Welfare Union, chairman, Nanak Chand held protest demonstration at border village Chandrey Chack Chadwan against Pakistan which is targeting civilian areas. They raised anti Pakistan and anti Government slogans. While addressing border residents Nanak Chand said that some border villages as Chack Chanda, Chandrey Chack, Chann Lal Din, Manyari, Pansar, Chandwan in Hiranagar sector are on the target of Pakistan Rangers. The residential houses are on the target of Pakistani guns. The Pakistani bullets, mortar shell shit their houses last night also, he added.
The protestors said that they are very much worried for their lives, family and property which was damaged in firing. The Government is also not taking any serious action against the Pakistan, they added.
They said the construction works of ditch and protection bandh is going in Hiranagar sector is main cause and Pakistan is trying to get the work stopped. The slow pace of construction work puts the lives of border residents at risk. If Government wants to continue work it needs to engage heavy and large scale machinery to complete the works within days. They asked the Government to take necessary action to stop firing and complete the construction works speedily, so that border residents may live in peace. If Government failed do so, the border residents can take extreme step.
